"I highly recommend Karine with no reservation."
Karine has been my daughter's piano teacher for nearly two years, and we have seen a considerable improvement in her playing during that time. What I am most impressed with is how well Karine balances the rigor of her lessons and her warm approach in her teaching. She is highly technical in her teaching and can easily assess a student's strengths and the areas that need improvement.
This year specifically, she has made the transition to remote instruction seamless. My daughter continues to thrive and improve her playing.
I highly recommend Karine with no reservation. She is an accomplished pedagogue who goes above and beyond for her students.

We have had the pleasure of having Ms. Koroukian as our daughter's piano teacher for nearly two years. She has been teaching both our 7- and 8-year-old daughters and are very happy with the progress they’ve made under her guidance.
We highly value Ms. Koroukian's ability to balance a strong academic approach and an intuitive understanding of each student’s personality and learning pace. She brings deep knowledge of piano technique and music theory, but presents it in a way that is age-appropriate and engaging.
Our girls especially enjoy the music theory lessons which are playful and interactive, making even the more challenging concepts simple to understand.Ms. Koroukian has a calm, encouraging presence and is always attentive to the needs of her students. She’s flexible when needed, while still maintaining high standards and clear goals. We really appreciate that Ms. Koroukian truly cares about her students musical growth and development!
We feel very fortunate to have found such a knowledgeable and thoughtful teacher for our daughters and would recommend her to any family looking for a piano instructor.

"There are people who simply teach and there are people who thrive on inspiring and mentoring."
Our daughter has been lucky to have Karine guide her through learning to play and appreciate piano and music in general since she was 8 years old.
Karine is not only knowledgeable, she is passionate about her craft and patient in guiding her students to success.
During the uncertain times of the pandemic, we were lucky to have the ability to continue lessons remotely, and it was so beneficial to have a consistency in an otherwise unstable world. We are so proud to see our daughter make the progress that she has made under Karine’s guidance.
True testament to Karine’s dedication as a mentor and as a wonderful human.

Ms. Karine has been teaching my son Danny for 5 years. As Danny said,
"She is a dedicated, supportive teacher who always delivers instructive and engaging lessons to students. She brings her students up to a high level of not only musical skill, but an understanding and enjoyment of the music that enhances their performance radically."

“Karine taught music from the heart"
When my son first started to learn piano, the teacher just focused on the basic skills. But when we found Karine, she not only taught technique, but also the real music, the kind that comes from the heart. She is enthusiastic, patient, professional and motivates her students. I am very happy to have her teach my son.

I’m still learning and have a long way to go before reaching an advanced level, but the progress I’ve made since starting lessons with Ms. Karine Koroukian has been truly encouraging. Her teaching style is warm, patient, and incredibly effective.
She helps me avoid unnecessary tension and play with more comfort and expression. This approach has made a big difference in how I feel at the piano and how I connect with the music.
Her lessons are thoughtfully tailored to my pace, and I always leave feeling motivated and supported.
Even as a beginner, I can see how much I've improved, and I'm excited to continue learning under her guidance.
I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a piano teacher who brings out both skill and joy in piano playing.

"Her students accomplish great things because great things are expected of them… I am additionally tremendously grateful for the care she takes to make sure her pupils are ergonomically postured from the start."
I have known Ms. Koroukian for almost three years. My three daughters – especially my youngest, Abby, who is now only seven years old, have thrived under her tutelage. She is unique in many ways, but most pronounced is her profound sense of professionalism. She treats her pupils like adults, and her expectations are high. Her students accomplish great things because great things are expected of them. She instills in her charges a tremendous dedication and musicality, and inspires them to push themselves.
The second way in which her instruction is uniquely valuable is that it is broad. There is music theory, music history, solfège – even composition bound up in the lesson, all presented at a level microscopically beyond their grasp, and when they reach for it, they inevitably grow in leaps and bounds. In a generation where it is hard to find young children dedicated to anything, she inspires them to work hard, and even to love working hard. She motivates them to be responsible beyond their years, and to pride themselves for it. That is a lesson that transcends even music. I am additionally tremendously grateful for the care she takes to make sure her pupils are ergonomically postured from the start.
Lastly, I would like to say that I personally feel tremendously blessed that my children know her. She is a role model to them, and not just musically. She is a tremendously refined, kind, patient and caring person. She is modest about her own accomplishments and truly believes in the respective potentials of her students. She crystallizes what it is to be substantive and actual – for them she is the antidote to a generation that venerates style over substance. They gain so much from just knowing her – completely aside from anything that she is actually attempting to teach them.
I recommend Ms. Koroukian without reservation.

Teaching Philosophy
My goal is to develop creativity, musical curiosity and imagination, versatility and refined technical tools to enable the student to express their musical thoughts and perform at their highest potential.
I believe that playing a musical instrument is a multi-sensory experience, which requires multiple and diverse learning strategies to address a complex set of technical/musical issues. Cultivating a postural and kinesthetic awareness with proper alignment is crucial for developing a healthy relationship with the instrument and minimizing unnecessary muscular tension. Learning diverse practicing strategies that involve visual, auditory and tactile experience are equally essential to have a strong mind-body connection. This approach can be accessible and applied at any level in a clear step-by-step, result-oriented method.
In addition, I incorporate theory, aural comprehension, sight-reading and duet playing in the lesson plan to develop a well rounded musician. A wide selection of repertoire from Baroque to contemporary music will be developed. Recitals, optional preparation for auditions, state and national exams, such as, RCM; ABRSM; festivals and competitions is also available to qualified students.
